about

'Fly me to the moon' (originally titled 'in other words) was written by Bart Howard in 1954. Kay Ballard made the first recording as it was originally written. It has since been recorded by many jazz greats and, perhaps, most famously by Frank Sinatra as that version became closely associated with the Apollo missions to the moon. In 1999 the Songwriters Hall of Fame honored it as an individual song that has influenced our culture by inducting the tune in its Hall of Fame as a 'Towering Song'. Though we've recorded it as an instrumental on this CD, I've listed the lyrics for your reference. Enjoy, and thank you for supporting live jazz! -George Torrella

lyrics

Fly me to the moon
Let me play among the stars
Let me see what love is like on
A-Jupiter and Mars
In other words, hold my hand
in other words, darling, kiss me

Fill my heart with joy and let me sing forever more
You are all I long for
All I worship and adore
In other words, please be true
In other words, I love you

Fill my heart with song
Let me sing for ever more
You are all I long for, all I worship and adore
In other words, Please be true
In other words,
In other words,
I love You
