about

"Cheek to Cheek" is a song written by Irving Berlin in 1935 for the Fred Astaire/Ginger Rogers movie Top Hat. Fred sings to Ginger as they dance. Astaire's recording with the Leo Reisman Orchestra was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2000.
The song has been recorded and sung by Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald; Doris Day; Shirley Jones & Jack Cassidy; Frank Sinatra; Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga, and many other recordings by jazz greats as instrumentals. Though recorded on this CD as an instrumental, I've included lyrics for your reference. Enjoy!...and thank you for supporting Live jazz. -George

lyrics

Heaven, I'm in Heaven
and my heart beats so that I can hardly speak
And I seem to find the happiness I seek
When we're out together dancing Cheek to Cheek

Heaven, I'm in Heaven
And the cares that hang around me through the week
Seem to vanish like a gamblers lucky streak
When we're out together dancing Cheek to Cheek

Oh, I love to climb a mountain
and to reach the highest peak
But it doesn't thrill me half as much
As dancing Cheek to Cheek

Oh, I love to go out fishing
In a river or a creek
But I don't enjoy it half as much
As dancing Cheek to Cheek

Dance with me
I want my arm about you
The charm about you
will carry me through to Heaven

I'm in Heaven
And my heartbeats so that I can hardly speak
And I seem to find the happiness I seek
When we're out together dancing Cheek to Cheek.
